Let Me Introduce Myself…
Curiosity, innovation, and authenticity are the foundation of my career as a writer and visual storyteller. Anyone can tell a story, but what separates good from exceptional is the ability to convince people why they should care.
My work as a journalist turned communications expert centers on strategic public relations and visual storytelling through print, video, and digital platforms that have proven lasting success and impact.
I started my career in TV news working in the investigative unit at CBS2/KCAL9 in Los Angeles. I assisted in undercover assignments that led to the exposure of government corruption and private business malpractice. Bringing justice to the people of southern California kickstarted my journalism career. As a lead reporter at WCIA3 News I was the eye behind the camera and the face in front of it, capturing video and writing stories that gave people a meaningful perspective on the world around them. I covered everything from severe tornado damage and criminal investigations to following the journeys of people who challenged the status quo and changed lives with their convictions to make this world a better place. When I was a reporter, I focused on building meaningful relationships with people in the communities I served. I will always cherish the steadfast courage people shared with me in our conversations, the resilience of communities that persevered despite tragedy, and the joy and laughter I shared with hundreds of people I met. It was an honor to be a trusted source of integrity in the news industry.
I transitioned careers to contribute my skillset in corporate business and governmental affairs providing communications expertise, public relations consulting, storytelling ingenuity, and creative social media strategies. My most recent work directing internal and external communications and social media for the Houston Housing Authority combines my creative communication proficiency with purpose-driven storytelling to promote the mission of providing affordable housing and economic self-sufficiency programs to low-income Houstonians. The most valuable contribution I can make in my career is lending my expertise to help people and support worthy causes that uplift society.
In every aspect of my profession, my approach is always to think beyond what others see to find the spark in a story that ignites people’s curiosity and captures their attention.
